Latest DVDs, CDs, books: Aug. 14

A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:

DVDs

"The Hunger Games" (PG-13): This futuristic story of teens fighting to the death in a televised spectacle grew so popular, it helped turned archery - the preferred sport of heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) - into a ratings smash during the London Olympics.

Elsewhere, a special-forces team must fight its way through a run-down high-rise to arrest a brutal crime lord in the Indonesian martial arts epic "The Raid: Redemption" (R). And a small-town teenager (Chloe Grace Moretz) runs away from her abusive parents and hitchhikes to Las Vegas in the coming-of-age drama "Hick" (R), co-starring Blake Lively, Alec Baldwin and Juliette Lewis.

Topping today's TV transfers: Local favorites "Vegas: The Third Season, Volume Two" and "Pawn Stars: Volume 5" join "Happy Endings: Seasons One and Two," "Glee: The Complete Third Season," "Community: The Complete Third Season" and "Dexter: The Sixth Season."

CDs

Dead Can Dance, "Anastasis": With "Anastasis," the Dead rise from the grave for their first album in 16 years.

After disbanding in 1998, the ethereal ambient duo return with more shadow- strewn world music.

Goths would be dancing for joy right about now - if they ever did that sort of thing.

Also in stores: Insane Clown Posse, "The Mighty Death Pop!"; In This Moment, "Blood"; Korpiklaani, "Manala"; Loudness, "Eve to Dawn"; Loverboy, "Rock 'N' Roll Revival"; Daniel Powter, "Turn On the Lights"; Slightly Stoopid, "Top of the World"; 2 Chainz, "Based on a T.R.U. Story"; Steve Vai, "The Story of Light"; Various Artists, "Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac"; and Yellowcard, "Southern Air."
