Latest DVDs, CDs, books: July 24

A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:

DVDs

"Silent House" (R): Elizabeth Olsen, still best known as Ashley and Mary-Kate's sister despite her breakthrough performance in "Martha Marcy May Marlene," stars in this real-time horror tale set in a secluded lake house.

Elsewhere, Rob Lowe and Rob Lowe's mustache star in "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" (not rated), the Lifetime movie about the former police officer whose life began unraveling after the disappearance of his fourth wife. And Eddie Izzard, Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland bring the Robert Louis Stevenson classic to life in "Treasure Island" (not rated), which premiered as a Syfy miniseries.

Topping today's TV series transfers: "Boss: Season One," "Childrens Hospital: The Complete Third Season," "Touched By an Angel: The Fifth Season," the first two seasons of "Sliders" and "Untouchables: The Fourth Season" volumes one and two.

CDs

The Gaslight Anthem, "Handwritten": Punk rock is working-class.

Bruce Springsteen is working-class.

Here, The Gaslight Anthem merges both in their original form.

Also in stores: Anywhere (featuring members of Mars Volta and At The Drive-In), "Anywhere"; Blood Red Shoes, "In Time to Voices"; Love and Theft, "Love and Theft"; and Passion Pit, "Gossamer."

BOOKS

"Black List" by Brad Thor: Counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath becomes a target of his own government after someone adds him to a secret list seen only by the president and a team of advisers. Harvath must evade those sent to kill him and find out who's sabotaging him before the United States is brought to its knees by a terrorist attack.

In women's fiction, Emily Griffin delivers a tale of love and family with "Where We Belong," in which 36-year-old Marian Caldwell's seemingly perfect world is turned upside down when teenage Kirby Rose knocks on her door.

Also hitting shelves: "Bailout" by Neil Barofsky; "Buried on Avenue B" by Peter de Jonge; "Endlessly" by Kiersten White; "Friends Forever" by Danielle Steel; "Judgment Call" by J.A. Jance; "Let the Devil Sleep" by John Verdon; "Thirteen" by Kelley Armstrong; and "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" by Rachel Joyce.
