Paul McCartney joins iHeartRadio lineup

The iHeartRadio Music Festival has added some royalty to its lineup, as Sir Paul McCartney has joined the star-studded event.

McCartney joins previously announced performers such as Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Drake, Elton John, Muse, Keith Urban, Tiesto and others at the two-day event, which returns to the MGM Grand Garden for the third year on Sept. 20 and 21.

McCartney last performed at the venue in June 2011, when he electrified the sold-out arena with a lively 2½-hour set that ranged from Beatles classics to Wings hits to latter-day solo material.

McCartney will perform Sept. 21 at the festival.

New to iHeartRadio festivities this year is the outdoor Festival Village, where the likes of Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, The Wanted, The Band Perry and more will play on two stages.

The festival will also be broadcast live on Clear Channel radio stations in 150 markets as well as on TV on the CW on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
