Italian artist Barbieri at G-C Arts reception

An opening reception with Italian artist Olivo Barbieri, along with a special screening of the short film "site specific_Las Vegas 05," will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. today at G-C Arts, 1217 S. Main St.

The gallery is exhibiting photographs from Barbieri's series featuring Las Vegas, which were taken from a helicopter. The artist previously photographed Los Angeles, Rome and Shanghai.

"Site specific_Las Vegas 05" recently was screened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and has been presented in several film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival in 2005.

Barbieri has exhibited his work at the Venice Biennale three times and is planning an exhibition for this fall at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Admission is free.

G-C Arts is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, or by appointment.
