Adult dance program at UNLV Fine Arts

Dancers and choreographers Louis Kavouras, chairman of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' dance department, and Shakti present a performance of "Shakti and Joe" at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in Dance Studio 111 of the Alta Ham Fine Arts Building on the UNLV campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The concert, two separate pieces featuring each artist, contains adult situations and scenes with female nudity.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $5 for students, seniors, military, and UNLV faculty and staff, and free to UNLV students with ID. For more information, call 895-2787.

Wind quintet, guest perform in concert

The Las Vegas Wind Quintet and guest pianist Barbara Riske will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St.

The program will include "Quintet for Winds" by Kelsey Jones, "Divertimento for Wind Quintet" by John Addison, "Viertes Quintett, Op. 23" by Johann Sobeck, and "Sextet in G Major" by Karl Phillip Emmanuel Bach.

The quintet is made up of clarinetist Dave Hawley, flutist Sherrie Parker, oboist Mika Bronson, bassoonist Sam Pisciotta and horn player Doug Beasley.

Riske has performed as a soloist with orchestras worldwide, served as principal pianist with major ballet companies and has made two appearances at Carnegie Hall. She is on the music faculty of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
