44 TV shows to check out in June

Because the last thing you want to do this month is head outdoors, here’s a look at 44 new and returning TV shows kicking off in June, including new seasons of “True Detective,” “Orange Is the New Black” and a slew of dramas on TNT and USA.

As always, times and dates are subject to change:

June 1: After a year away, “So You Think You Can Dance” (8 p.m. Fox) returns to Las Vegas for the callback rounds that pit stage dancers vs. street dancers in front of new judges Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo.

June 1: The soapy “Devious Maids” (9 p.m. Lifetime) is back for its third season.

June 1: Something malevolent is preying on children in Washington, D.C., in “The Whispers” (10 p.m. ABC).

June 1: The behind-the-scenes drama at a dating show is chronicled in “UnREAL” (10 p.m. Lifetime).

June 2: Check in with the gang at HankMed in the seventh season of “Royal Pains” (10 p.m. USA).

June 4: Las Vegas native Rutina Wesley (“True Blood”) signs on for the third season of the “Silence of the Lambs” prequel “Hannibal” (10 p.m. NBC)

June 5: Eight people from around the world discover they share a single consciousness in The Wachowskis’ “Sense8” (Netflix).

June 6: Ghost (Omari Hardwick) expands his drug business on “Power” (9 p.m. Starz).

June 8: “Major Crimes” returns for its fourth season (9 p.m. TNT).

June 8: San Francisco homicide detectives tackle a new case in the second season of “Murder in the First” (10 p.m. TNT).

June 8: A New Yorker (Jill Kargman) tries to navigate the world of Upper East Side motherhood in “Odd Mom Out” (10 p.m. Bravo).

June 11: Cat (Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent (Jay Ryan) find their love tested in the new season of “Beauty and the Beast” (8 p.m. The CW).

June 12: Return to Litchfield Penitentiary for the third season of “Orange Is the New Black” (Netflix).

June 12: The Omec, an alien warrior race, arrive on the third season of “Defiance” (8 p.m. Syfy).

June 12: “Dark Matter” (10 p.m. Syfy) follows the amnesia-stricken crew of a spaceship.

June 13: A magician offers the government his help in defeating Napoleon in “Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell” (10 p.m. BBC America).

June 16: “Rizzoli & Isles” (9 p.m. TNT) returns for a sixth season of crime solving.

June 16: Former high school classmates work in a barbershop in “Clipped” (10 p.m. TBS), from the creators of “Will & Grace.”

June 16: A dying billionaire (Matthew Modine) hires a surgeon (Jennifer Beals) to investigate the afterlife in “Proof” (10 p.m. TNT).

June 16: Return to the turbulence in the Middle East in “Tyrant” (10 p.m. FX).

June 17: An inexperienced East German spy infiltrates the West German army in 1983 in “Deutschland 83” (11 p.m. Sundance TV).

June 18: “The Astronaut Wives Club” (8 p.m. ABC) follows the better halves of the Mercury Seven.

June 18: Jennifer Esposito joins the third season of the soapy “Mistresses” (9 p.m. ABC).

June 18: A suburban doctor (Jason O’Mara) intervenes in a gang shooting in the thriller “Complications” (9 p.m. USA).

June 19: “Killjoys” (9 p.m. Syfy) follows three interplanetary bounty hunters.

June 21: Steve Harvey hosts “Celebrity Family Feud” (8 p.m. ABC).

June 21: “True Detective” (9 p.m. HBO) follows up its stellar first season with a new case starring Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch.

June 21: “The Last Ship” (9 p.m. TNT) is back on patrol for a second season.

June 21: The homemade robot fighting championship “BattleBots” (9 p.m. ABC) is rebooted.

June 21: A soldier (Aidan Turner) returns to England after the Revolutionary War to find his father has died, his lands are ruined, and his fiancee is about to marry his cousin in “Poldark” (9 p.m. PBS).

June 21: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars as a retired football superstar who mentors other players in “Ballers” (10 p.m. HBO).

June 21: Jack Black and Tim Robbins find the humor in a geopolitical crisis in Pakistan in “The Brink” (10:30 p.m. HBO).

June 21: A World War I hospital is the setting for “The Crimson Field” (10 p.m. PBS).

June 24: “Big Brother” (8 p.m. CBS) is back for more shenanigans

June 24: A cyber-security engineer (Rami Malek) is recruited by a hacker (Christian Slater) to destroy the firm he’s been hired to protect in “Mr. Robot” (10 p.m. USA).

June 24: “Suits” (9 p.m. USA) is back for more fast-talking lawyering.

June 25: Contestants must correctly answer trivia questions or be bombarded with guacamole, mashed potatoes and more in “BOOM!” (8 p.m. Fox)

June 25: The town of Chester’s Mill and its residents are still under the dome in “Under the Dome” (9 p.m. CBS).

June 25: “Graceland” (10 p.m. USA) heads back to the beach for season three.

June 25: Head back to Canada with the cops of “Rookie Blue” (10 p.m. ABC).

June 28: Elderly love is still in the air on “Last Tango in Halifax” (8 p.m. PBS).

June 28: Say goodbye to the 2nd Mass with the final season of “Falling Skies” (10 p.m. TNT).

June 30: A biologist (James Wolk) investigates a pandemic that’s causing a rash of animal attacks in “Zoo” (9 p.m. CBS), based on the James Patterson novel.

June 30: The series version of the horror tale “Scream” (10 p.m. MTV) picks up where the movies left off.
