When it came to awards, the Emmys weren’t really full of surprises on Monday. “Modern Family” won Outstanding Comedy for the fifth year in a row, and “Breaking Bad” took home Outstanding Drama — again.

The best parts of an awards show are never the actual awards, though. Here are 9 of the weirdest, best parts of Monday’s show:

NBA photobombing champion Chris Bosh showed Matthew McConaughey on the red carpet Monday that no one is safe from his face.

It may not have been on purpose, but that’s the beauty of the Chris Bosh photobomb — he can do it without even trying.

Gwen Stefani has literally no idea who Stephen Colbert is

At least, that’s what her pronunciation of his name would lead you to believe. While announcing the winner of Outstanding Variety Series, Stefani made a John Travolta-esque mistake. “Cole-Bore Report,” she said. The show’s name is pronounced like “Cole-bear re-pore.”

Jimmy Fallon hijacked Stephen Colbert’s acceptance speech

After “The Colbert Report” won the Outstanding Variety Series Emmy award Monday night for the second consecutive year, Jimmy Fallon figured there must have been a mistake, and that’s why Stefani mispronounced the name of Colbert’s show.

He rushed the stage and Colbert dictated his speech into Fallon’s ear. But then Colbert had time for a real, out-of-character acceptance speech.

Ricky Gervais will never get used to losing

Master complainer and sometimes-comedian Ricky Gervais took presenting the Emmy for best writing for a variety special as an opportunity to rant about having just lost the award for best actor in a comedy series.

Gervais has been nominated for 21 Emmy Awards and has won twice.

The Kiss

Almost everyone expected Julia Louis-Dreyfus to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in “Veep,” but what was less expected was the make-out session that followed the win.

On her way up to the stage, Bryan Cranston went in for a kiss. A really long kiss. Watch it happen below.

‘Weird Al’ performed

The ‘True Detective’ plagiarism thing came up

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson joked around on stage, bringing up a plagiarism flap from earlier this season.

“I’m grateful you had all the plagiarized lines,” Harrelson said.

“Was that too much of an inside joke?” McConaughey replied.

The show’s writers were accused of plagiarism in August after lines were matched up with Thomas Ligotti’s novel “The Conspiracy Against the Human Race” and other works.

Nic Pizzolatto, the show’s creator, has said no part of the show was plagiarized, and HBO released a statement at the time saying the company stood by Pizzolatto.

Someone thought it was a good idea to put Sofia Vergara on a spinning pedestal

Much of the online reaction to Sofia Vergara being placed on a human statue for an ill-thought-out joke was not favorable.

Vergara was rotated on a raised platform as chairman of the Television Academy Bruce Rosenblum made his speech.

“Dear Academy President: Sofia Vergara is not a prize from the Price Is Right,” tweeted author Janet Mock.
