99 Words About … ‘Vanilla Ice Goes Amish’ (Yes, really)

It’s one of the oddest trends in reality TV. Especially since the people depicted on these shows will never see them.
“Breaking Amish,” “Breaking Amish: L.A.” and “Amish Mafia” were surprise hits. Now, hot on their simple, leather bootheels, comes “Vanilla Ice Goes Amish” (10 p.m. Saturday, DIY Network).
For the series, the shaved-eyebrowed rapper turned home-improvement expert lives with a traditional Amish family and learns hand-craftsmanship. There’s even the obligatory barn raising. The only thing missing is an in-her-prime Kelly McGillis.
Given TV’s rampant bandwagoning, even more copycats can’t be far behind.
