Last call for inclusion in football bar directory

Here’s our last-chance call for local bar owners and managers who wish to have their establishments included in the 2013 edition of the R-J’s annual directory of NFL bars.

This year’s list will run in the R-J’s Living section (and appear online at www.ReviewJournal.com) on Sept. 1. That means bar owners or managers have until 4 p.m. Friday to call us with the info we need.

To be included:

■ The bar can show only its team’s games while that team is playing. The idea here is to re-create the feel of watching your favorite team back home while surrounded by fellow fans of your team.

That’s why we don’t list sports bars, sports books, casinos, bars or rooms inside casinos or anyplace else where other games are being shown while the hometown team’s game is being broadcast.

■ The bar must be able to show every game its team plays. Right now, that means the bar has to subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket satellite game package.

■ We will list food and drink specials (with prices) that are offered during hometown teams’ games, as well as giveaways of caps, footballs and the like that will be held during the hometown team’s games (although we don’t list gaming-related promotions).

Bar owners must call us by 5 p.m. Friday. We’ll accept calls only from bar owners or managers and take the info we need only via a phone conversation. We won’t accept voice mails, text messages, emails, press releases, letters, faxes or any info delivered secondhand.

The number to call is 383-0280 — if we don’t answer immediately, just leave a phone number and we’ll get back to you ASAP — and we’ll take your calls from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, up until Friday’s deadline.
