Vegas to host ever-changing SoCal melodic punk group

“Don’t think I’m gonna live too long / Just as long as I can sing this song,” D.I. frontman Casey Royer announced on the band’s “Living in the U.S.A.” nearly three decades ago.

Royer’s still here, and so is D.I. — barely, in both cases.

The SoCal melodic punk firebombs have had a turbulent career — they’ve had more different band members than they have songs — and so has Royer, who overdosed on heroin two years back.

But then again, that’s this band’s MO, fashioning bright sounds from the darkest of times.
