East Las Vegas nonprofit campus to offer social services to low-income

Three Las Vegas nonprofits have teamed up to create a 22-acre campus that will help low-income residents in the east valley. Nevada HAND, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada and Lutheran Social Services of Nevada hosted a groundbreaking June 29 off Boulder Highway near Arizona Charlie’s. A charter elementary school, Mater Academy of Nevada, already is on-site.

Las Vegas-area families take in nature at Wetlands Park open house

The Clark County Wetlands Park held its second annual summer open-house event July 1 , inviting families to eat snow cones, have their faces painted and see animals. Park officials also told families about activities they can do at the Wetlands and across the valley while also avoiding excessive heat.
