1 dead in 3-car crash in northeast Las Vegas Valley

Updated September 28, 2020 - 4:28 pm

A woman is dead after a three-car crash Monday afternoon in the northeast Las Vegas Valley, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Travis Smaka said the agency was called to Las Vegas Boulevard, just north of Interstate 15, around 1 p.m.

A gray Honda CR-V was southbound on the interstate when it hit a silver Hyundai Santa Fe and fled, Smaka said. The driver then exited at Las Vegas Boulevard “at a high rate of speed” and hit a red GMC truck that was stopped at the stop sign.

The truck moved and the CRV continued into a sign, Smaka said. The woman driving the CR-V was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.

The I-15 southbound offramp at Las Vegas Boulevard remained closed as of 4 p.m.
