Updated August 4, 2023 - 11:25 am

A motorcycle rider was killed Friday morning after a crash in northeast Las Vegas.

The rider crashed into a 2007 GMC Yukon around 6:30 a.m. at North Walnut Road and East Owens Avenue, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jeff Dean.

Metro said the GMC, driven by an 18-year-old Las Vegas woman, attempted to turn left on Walnut when it struck the motorcycle, which was driving west on Owens.

The rider, a 25-year-old man, was ejected from the bike and died at the scene.

Police said the GMC driver showed no signs of impairment.

The intersection was closed for several hours while detectives investigated.

As of 8 a.m., officers had permanently stopped the lights at the intersection, indicating that drivers on Owens would have had a green light at the time of the crash, and those turning left from the eastbound lanes would have had a flashing yellow light.

In the westbound lanes of Owens, a black SUV was parked with its airbags deployed next to a mangled motorcycle.
