Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in south Las Vegas

Updated December 20, 2018 - 7:26 pm

Officials are investigating a fatal crash that left a man dead in the south Las Vegas Valley on Thursday afternoon, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at about 3:35 p.m. at Blue Diamond Road and South Lindell Road, when a small silver Chevrolet pickup truck tried to turn onto Blue Diamond from Lindell, Highway Patrol spokesman Travis Smaka said.

The truck pulled in front of a white Chevrolet Suburban that was traveling west on Blue Diamond, and the Suburban hit the driver side of the pickup, Smaka said.

The driver of the truck died at the scene. He will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family is notified.

The driver and a passenger in the Suburban were taken to University Medical Center with survivable injuries, Smaka said. Impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Highway Patrol was almost finished clearing the scene at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, he said.
