Martin Luther King, Carey reopens after critical injury crash

One person was critically injured early Monday after a driver lost control of a vehicle and struck a light pole in the central Las Vegas Valley.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. at Martin Luther King Boulevard and West Carey Avenue, according to Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Alejandra Zambrano.

The driver was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, although an update on the driver’s condition was not available as of 10 a.m.

The intersection reopened about 7:50 a.m.

No other details were immediately available, including the driver’s gender and age, Zambrano said.
