Motorcyclist critical after crash with SUV in western Las Vegas

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a Friday night crash in the central valley, Las Vegas police said.

The crash involving a Yamaha R6 and a Chevrolet Tahoe happened about 8:50 p.m. at South Valley View Boulevard and El Camino Avenue, near West Sahara Avenue, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Peter Kisfalvi said. The 25-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized at University Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition as of 3:30 a.m., according to police.

Metro’s fatal detail determined that the crash happened as the Chevrolet, driven by a 39-year-old man, was making a left turn onto El Camino Avenue. He entered the motorcycle’s path, and the Yamaha struck the right side of the Chevrolet, police said.

The SUV’s driver was not injured. Police said that three passengers — a 37-year-old woman and two children — suffered minor injuries in the crash but remained at the scene.

It wasn’t clear whether impairment was suspected. The crash remained under investigation Saturday morning.
