Updated November 6, 2024 - 12:31 pm

A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning after a crash with a vehicle in a central Las Vegas Valley neighborhood.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. near the intersection of Meade Avenue and Sheridan Street, in the area of South Valley View Boulevard and Pennwood Avenue, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.

Investigators say a 2011 Hyundai Elantra was westbound on Meade, set to make a left turn into a private drive. A 2019 Honda CRF1000 was eastbound on Meade west of Sheridan in the single eastbound travel lane.

The crash occurred when the Hyundai crossed into the path of the Honda. The front of the Honda struck the front left of the Hyundai, resulting in major damage to both vehicles.

The motorcyclist, a 33-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai sustained minor injuries, remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.

The death marks the 132nd traffic-related death in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2024. The crash remains under investigation by Metro’s Collision Investigation Section.
