Motorist dies in crash near Summerlin

Updated March 17, 2022 - 5:37 pm

A 24-year-old man died Monday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash in the west Las Vegas valley.

Police said a gray 2003 Acura TL was heading south on North Rampart Boulevard, approaching West Lake Mead Boulevard, at 3:21 p.m.

The car “failed to negotiate the turn” and hit a raised pork chop island median before colliding with two poles.

It then came to rest on the center median. The driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Clark County coroner’s office on Thursday identified the driver as Nicolas Wranik. He died of blunt force injury to the chest.

Police did not provide further details.

The crash represented one of several on a deadly day for Clark County roads, with at least three people dead in separate crashes.
