Showers storm through valley, more to come

For those of you without windows, we have breaking news for you: Some weather occurred on Monday, and even more of it is expected the rest of the week.

A fast-moving thunderstorm made some racket and dumped a little bit of rain and small hail on parts of the east valley. A few neighborhoods saw almost two-tenths of an inch of precipitation, enough to cause some brief, localized street flooding.

No serious problems were reported and none were expected, said Andrew Gorelow, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Las Vegas. “These storms are moving pretty fast.”

And more of them are on the way.

Gorelow said there is a slightly better chance of thunder, rain and hail across the valley today.

The forecast for the rest of the week looks pretty similar: a few, fast-moving storm cells here and there, momentarily interrupting our usual lack of weather.
