Struggling Nevadans will be relieved to hear that a bill to jack up judicial pay remained alive in Carson City as the session neared a close.
Senate Bill 248, approved Friday by the Senate Finance Committee, would raise salaries for district judges to $160,000 from $130,000 and for state Supreme Court justices to $170,000 from $140,000.
That's more than 23 and 21 percent, respectively.
While this may seem a tad excessive, who can't relate to cost-of-living struggles confronting professionals who make six-figure incomes courtesy of taxpayers?
After all, Nevada's judges shouldn't have to get by on cat food or mac and cheese, should they?
