Falcons take Grizzlies at Connie Mack

Zak Avery stroked a walk-off single in the seventh inning to lead the top-seeded Southern Nevada Falcons to a 5-4 win over the Las Vegas Grizzlies in an elimination game Thursday in the Connie Mack state baseball tournament at the College of Southern Nevada’s Morse Stadium.

The Falcons trailed 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh.

In other games, the Las Vegas Mustangs-Navy defeated the Green Valley Elite 5-4, and the Las Vegas Mayhem advanced to Saturday’s championship game with a 4-3 win over the Las Vegas Crusaders.

In today’s games, the Falcons (22-3) face the Mustangs (14-10) in an elimination game at 4 p.m. The winner will meet the Las Vegas Crusaders (17-8) at 7. The winner advances to Saturday’s title game against the Mayhem (21-3).
