NFL reportedly fires employee for selling ‘deflategate’ footballs

The NFL reportedly fired an employee for selling footballs involved in the controversy of underinflated balls in the AFC Championship Game.

The balls were supposed to be donated to charity, but a game-day employee in charge of handling footballs sold them instead, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Wednesday.

This report follows ESPN’s report Tuesday that a New England Patriots locker room attendant tried to put an unapproved kicking ball into play during the game.

The NFL is investigating whether the Patriots intentionally deflated their footballs before their 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC title game.
