Mary Jo Buttafuoco, who was shot in the head by former “Long Island Lolita” Amy Fisher in 1992, has tied the knot in Las Vegas.
Native American culture and the spirit of the contemporary powwow are the subjects of the newest exhibit at the Clark County Museum. The exhibit, “What Continues the Dream: Contemporary Arts and Crafts from the Powwow Tradition,” is on loan from the Nevada Arts Council’s Nevada Touring Initiative and runs until May 6 at the museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway.
Clark High School hosted a Hawaiian-themed dance for students with disabilities Feb. 17. For many of the special education students, it was their first dance and a chance to interact as their typical education peers do.
The Las Vegas chapter of Brandeis University National Committee plans to welcome former showgirl and author Betty Bunch as the guest speaker at its 15th annual Book and Author Luncheon, planned for March 11 at Spiedini Ristorante.
Things come through my life often in noticeable clumps. I can’t think of any other word. And, for some reason, I find myself hearing a group of stories about ruined lives. I mean specifically calculated ruin. Someone in a position of authority or with power or with money — or all of that — decides to ruin you.
Stephen Nasser was 13 when the Nazis broke into his home and forced him and his family on a train to Auschwitz. He and four other Holocaust survivors told their stories to middle and high school students and their teachers Feb. 15 as part of the Holocaust Education Conference at the Northwest Career and Technical Academy.
Kolache is probably a new word for you, let alone a new food item. Originally from Central Europe, mainly Czechoslovakia, kolaches are a sweet pastry/dessert holding a dollop of fruit or jelly rimmed by a puffy pillow of dough.
