EDITORIAL: It’s time to discuss how to fund a stadium

During Thursday's meeting of the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee at UNLV, tourism leaders testified that a new stadium near the Strip could help Las Vegas attract at least 20 new annual special events and the tourists who'd attend them. We've heard the conversation before.

UNLV's stadium authority board, which also included tourism leaders, met for a year to develop a plan that could win support from the gaming industry. That followed a different failed stadium initiative. The project is on hold.

The need for a new multipurpose stadium in Southern Nevada is well-established, as are its economic benefits. When do we start talking about how to fund it and build it?
