Protesting NFL players being disrespectful

I would like to remind those in the NFL that there would be no football without fans. We buy tickets to games, wear your jerseys and our cars are rolling tributes to our favorite teams. We buy TV packages to see even more games. We celebrate when a player gets a great contract because it will add stability to our team.

But we also get emotional when the national anthem is played. When the jets fly overhead, our hearts swell with patriotic pride. Think of all the Thanksgivings and Christmases and Super Bowl Sundays when we (and you) are shown feeds from far off lands where members of our active military are watching you play. How do you think they feel to see you sitting, kneeling or showing a fist when they are deployed to defend the very thing you are protesting?

There are 167 hours and 58 minutes every week for you to speak your truth. Can the rest of us have just those two special minutes before a game?? Perhaps you don’t realize that your actions affect how we view you. But they do. How can we hear, respect and act on your message when it is given so disrespectfully?
