LETTER: Too many Nevada lawmakers ignoring separation of powers clause

The Review-Journal’s Feb. 12 editorial, “Union gift basket,” did a good job of quantifying the cost of Assembly Bill 121, sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Yeager, a Las Vegas Democrat who is also a government employee.

But Victor Joecks’ Feb. 13 column on the subject, “Separation of powers?” — which included, verbatim, the Nevada Constitution’s Article 3 Section 1 separation doctrine — should be a wake-up call for everyone in the private sector.

Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with political party or where you stand on the political spectrum. Nobody has the right to function in two branches of government. The vast majority of us don’t function in even one branch, yet here we are being told by these government insider/political activist elitists that it’s perfectly OK for them to operate in two branches. It isn’t. It’s dangerous and destructive.

Stop voting for government employees. Get them out of elected office.

LETTER: Tired rhetoric on green energy

Nevadans should look west to California, where 100 percent of that huge state’s energy was recently supplied by renewable sources for a stretch of more than nine hours.
